Jason McCool was the Artistic Director of Solas Nua in Boston, which he founded at The Burren in Somerville, MA in June 2014, and ran until the dissolving of the Boston branch in November 2015. Solas Nua, founded in 2005 by Dublin-native Linda Murray in Washington, DC, is the only organization in the United States dedicated to promoting contemporary Irish arts. Solas Nua in Boston was featured in Dig Boston, on WGBH's "Under the Radar with Callie Crossley," and was the winner of the December 2014 Opus Affair Punch Bowl Fund. Solas Nua in Boston presented free staged readings of contemporary Irish plays every 4th Monday of the month at The Burren, engaging dozens of Boston-based actors in contemporary Irish drama.

On St. Patrick's Day 2015, Jason produced Solas Nua in Boston's first annual Boston Irish Poem Day, handing out one thousand contemporary Irish poems on the streets of Boston, Somerville, and Cambridge. He joined Solas Nua in Boston company members Nancy Finn and Steven O Broin in performing at celebrations of William Butler Yeats (see photo below) and James Joyce at the Office of the Consulate General of Ireland in Boston.
